Industrial and logistics facilities:
accurate data for production and storage

Industrial facilities bring the most surveyed square meters, because here size matters, and inaccuracy is the most expensive. A factory area conversion, the installation of a new production line or the layout design of a warehouse hall requires precise geometric data. innoScan 3D casts the facility in digital form: point cloud, BIM model, online viewer.

What do you get after our survey?

  • The geometry of the entire facility can be imported as a 3D point cloud, including equipment, into design software
  • Detailed BIM model at the selected LOD level, which is the basis for planning and coordination
  • A browser-based viewer that allows you to view the facility from anywhere, no need to go to the venue to make decisions
  • 2D design documentation: floor plans, sections in the required format
  • Layout plan basis: layout drawn on a point cloud, machines, shelves, routes accurately dimensioning in space

For large areas, the drone survey complements the indoor laser data: the outdoor area can also be documented from a top view.

Why should an industrial facility be digitized?

Documentation does not follow reality

In the life of industrial facilities, there are many transformations, expansions, machine changes. Blueprints (if they exist at all) record the moment of construction, not the current state. The difference accumulates over decades.

Transforming without an exact size is risky

New production line, line relocation, expansion: on-site scaling is limited in time and accuracy. A “do it by eye” approach, or relying on old designs, can result in cost overruns of hundreds of thousands or millions at an industrial facility.

Compliance requires documentation

Fire protection, escape routes, official review: the authority can expect precise geometric documentation. The digital survey ensures this.

Layout optimization with point cloud

A point cloud the exact map on which a new layout can be designed. In a digital environment, a designer can experiment with layouts without physically moving anything.

The design relies on the optimized point cloud in three critical areas:

Machinery and equipment: existing and planned machines can be placed in space with dimensioned models. Shelving systems can be used to the maximum, knowing the column layout and ceiling height.

Logistic routes: material flow and vehicle traffic can be planned on the basis of real geometry. The result: an optimized layout for real geometry, not estimates.

Escape routes: compliance with the official requirements can be verified numerically on the 3D model.

Typical projects

Factory area conversion

Installation of new production line, relocation of existing line, expansion of production. Precise geometry is essential: the size of the machines, the connection points and the range of motion all matter.

Warehouse layout

Shelving system design, optimization of logistics routes, design of escape routes. Accurate knowledge of the size and column layout of the warehouse hall is the basis for making the most of the shelving system.

Industrial maintenance

Documentation of existing systems: pipeline, mechanical engineering, electrical network. A mechanical survey processes visible systems into a BIM model, which is the basis of maintenance plans.

Compliance documentation

Fire protection documentation, escape route calculation, compliance with official conditions. Accurate geometry ensures the authenticity of calculations and documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big a facility can you assess?

There is no upper limit. We surveyed tens of thousands of square meters of industrial facilities, including the CLAAS plant in Törökszentmiklós, the HelloParks logistics halls in Maglódi and Fóti, the Danube Refinery of MOL Százhalombatta, BorsodChem and the Kelenföld Power Plant.

How long does it take to survey a factory area?

Depends on the complexity of the installation, but with several instruments in parallel 2 000-6 000 m² per day.

Can the survey be carried out while the plant is in operation?

Yes. The laser scanner works noiselessly and does not require physical contact. Surveying work does not interfere with production. From a security point of view, the consultation is carried out with the person in charge on site.

Is machinery and equipment also assessed?

Yes. The laser scanner captures the entire visible space, including machines, shelves, pipelines. In the BIM model, equipment can also be modeled as separate objects.

Have you managed multiple sites?

Yes. For portfolio-level orders, we work with a uniform standard and volume-based calculation.

Digital twin for industrial facilities

A digital twin particularly useful in the industrial context.

From the point of view of production processes, the digital image of the facility can be seen together with the production line, the logistics system and the utilities. In maintenance cycles, the status and history of the systems can be tracked in the model. In expansion design, new elements can be designed on the existing digital twin, with collision and space requirements analysis.

The digital twin is not a one-time survey: with regular updates, it remains a mirror of the living establishment.
